Hobart teen left with critical head injuries after being hit by car

A 16-year-old pedestrian has been rushed to Hospital in a critical condition after he was hit by a car near New Norfolk overnight.

Police believe the teenager was walking on the road towards Hobart when he was struck by a car driven by a 21-year-old male around 8:40pm on Sunday.

Earlier reports from Police suggested the teen has been riding a scooter at the time.

The boy suffered serious head injuries as a result of the incident and remains critical at the Royal Hobart Hospital.

Both the driver and his 19-year-old female passenger escaped uninjured.

Investigations into the crash are continuing and anyone who witnessed this incident is urged to contact Bridgewater Police on 131 444.

EARLIER: Police say a person has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after a crash on the Lyell Highway at Granton tonight.

The person is believed to have been riding a scooter when they were hit by a vehicle around 9pm on Sunday.
