A peaceful vigil will be held in Hobart this weekend to remember the international student who tragically drowned on the city’s waterfront.
27-year-old Deepinderjeet ‘Deep’ Singh was a much loved member of the local Indian community, who have been left deeply shocked and shaken by the incident.
Singh lost his life on Monday night while he was out with a woman near Princess Wharf 1.

The teenager has been charged with manslaughter in connection with the incident, while three other people after also facing aggravated robbery charges.
Originally from India, Singh had come to Hobart to study at the University of Tasmania and had dedicated much of his time to working at a North Hobart restaurant for three years.

The Punjabi Society Tasmania hopes to fill Franklin Square at midday this Saturday, February 3, in memory of Singh with an hour-long memorial.
Afterward, community members will walk to Parliament Lawns, across the road from where the incident occurred, to further reflect on and celebrate his life.
A GoFundMe page setup to help his family cover the costs of repatriating his body back to India has so far raised over $28,000.
