Hobart to hit 32 degrees today before cool change in weather

Hobart is set to reach 32 degrees today before a cool change hits tomorrow.

Hobartians are set to lap up the city’s beaches to find relief today before dropping to 22 degrees tomorrow with possible showers while Launceston is set for 30 degrees before dropping to 21 degrees on Wednesday.

The Tasmania Fire Service’s statewide fire permit period is still in place after starting on December 16.

The Bureau of Meteorology said conditions would be “hot, dry and mostly sunny with temperatures well above average” for Tasmania today.

A strong wind warning has been issued for most of Tasmania, adding to fire concerns across the state.

The fire permit period will remain in place “until further notice”, the TFSsaid.

Hobart may see afternoon showers and the risk of thunderstorms, which could provide some relief.

Fire permits are required for all open fires during the declared period, with heavy penalties applying for breaches during high-risk weather.

The hot weather is forecast to return on Sunday, with Hobart to reach 33 and Launceston 28 degrees with up to 20mm of rain predicted.
