A Hobart youth has sparked a large scale manhunt after escaping custody on the Brooker Highway tonight.
Police say multiple units are currently in the Glenorchy area searching for the youth, who escaped around 8.35pm.

“The youth absconded from a marked security vehicle in the area of Timsbury Road and Howard Road,” they say.
“The male youth had handcuffs on his wrists at the front of his body and was wearing a grey hooded jumper and black trousers.”
Anyone who sees the youth is asked to contact police on 131 444.
The youth is not believed to be a threat to the community.
