Hoabrt’s AFL Ladies Lunch has already sold out in its 16th year, with organisers hoping to top last year’s $14,000 fundraising haul for two Tasmanian charities.
The event will raise money for mental health organisation Speak Up! Stay ChatTY and family support charity Tassie Mums.
Sam Towns, managing director of naming rights sponsor Petrusma Property, said the partnership was a natural fit.
“We’re incredibly proud to partner with the AFL Ladies Lunch this year,” he said.
“As a Tasmanian business, giving back to the community that has supported us for so many years is really important to us.”
“It’s a fantastic event that brings people together, creates plenty of fun and most importantly raises much-needed funds for two incredible local organisations making a real difference.”
Clair Harris from Tassie Mums said the fundraising made a real difference for families doing it tough.
“The growth is what we’re noticing and the reason for need continues to be the same and financial hardship is absolutely the number one reason so being able to have support like this through an event like this is amazing and helps us keep up with community need,” she said.
Stay ChatTY founder Mitch McPherson, who will co-host the event alongside Triple M breakfast presenter Karen McMullen, said demand for mental health support was growing.
“Probably have never been busier at the moment to get out there and meet people where they are at and to educate them about mental health,” he said.
Performer Hugh Bladel is set to entertain after a two-course meal, with footy-inspired activities and surprises planned throughout the day.
Though tickets for the September 25 event at Ninja Stadium have sold out, raffle tickets with a range of prizes are still available through trybooking.com, with the draw to take place on the day.
