Hobart’s Bidencopes Lane has been named as a finalist in the 2022 Australian Street Art Awards, a prestigious recognition of excellence and innovation in art tourism.
The lane and the various artists who have contributed to it have been praised by the awards director for its appeal as a “drawcard tourist attraction” in the city’s CBD.
Bidencopes Lane is a unique and vibrant destination, home to a diverse collection of murals and graffiti – each one telling a different story and adding to the overall character of the area.
The Australian Street Art Awards is the industry’s first and largest of its kind, and the rigorous judging process includes evaluations by tourism leaders and second-tier auditing and due diligence.

Being named as a finalist in the awards carries significant credibility in the tourism sector, and it is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the artists and local community who have helped to make Bidencopes Lane such a success.
The competition is fierce, with 46 finalists from across the country competing for the top prize at an online celebration set to be held in mid-February.
