A homeless man has spent the night in police custody after a three-hour standoff in Launceston.
The 28-year-old was arrested around 5:30pm on Saturday near the Tamar River at Home Point Parade.

Police were called to the scene hours earlier just after 2pm following concerns for the man’s welfare.
They said the incident was “isolated” and posed “no risk to the wider public”.
“A section of Home Point Parade was closed while police dealt with the matter,” police said.
“Police would like to thank the community for their understanding during this time.”
The man will appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court today.
