Unregistered trail bikes being ridden around the streets of New Norfolk in recent weeks have become the target of an already successful police operation.

Sergeant Andrea Richardson said police have charged an adult and three youths over a series of alleged offences across the Derwent Valley town.

Four trail bikes have also been seized, which were used to illegally ride around public streets, committing traffic offences and evading police.

“We have charged one adult and three youths with a total of 20 offences and seized four trail bikes,” Richardson said.

“Tasmania Police remains committed to reducing recidivism and enhancing community safety and we’ll continue to target hooning and unregistered trail bikes in the area.”

“Police encourage people to report illegal or anti-social behaviour … on 131 444 or Triple Zero (000) in an emergency.”
