Is this the sad state of Tasmania’s housing market?
The standalone garage of a Huonville property has been ‘converted’ into a home and has hit the market for $220 per week.
The listing on Facebook Marketplace says while the garage includes a kitchen and bed, you’ll have to walk outside to the main house to go to the toilet or have a shower.

11 Jan: Hobart Residents Struggling as Rental Prices Climb
Hobart is in a rental crisis, with skyrocketing prices leaving residents struggling to afford a roof over their heads.
A recent report by PropTrack shows the median rent for a house in Hobart is $540 per week – the fourth highest in the country.
This is particularly challenging for many Tasmanians, as they have the lowest incomes in Australia.
On average a Hobart rental family, with a typical weekly household income of $1,358, would have to spend 39% of their budget on rent.
The report also reveals that the highest rents in the country can be found in Canberra ($670 per week), Sydney ($630 per week), and Darwin ($600 per week).
Median house rents in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth range from $460 to $530 per week.
