A woman has died and her two children, including a 1-year-old, have been injured after an incident in Launceston this morning.
Police say officers were called to a residence in Riverside, northwest of the Launceston CBD, shortly after 10am on Monday morning where the woman was pronounced deceased a short time later.
While the circumstances surrounding the 36-year-old’s death remain unclear, Police say it occurred in “non-suspicious circumstances”.
Two children, boys aged 4 and 1, were also in the home at the time and were taken to the Launceston General Hospital for assessment.
The 1-year-old was later airlifted to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a serious condition for further treatment.
Police say investigators will “examine the circumstances of this incident”, but do not believe anyone else was involved.
“Our thoughts are with the woman’s family and loved ones at this difficult time,” a spokesperson said.

Inspector Craig Fox said her two young sons, aged 1 and 4, were left with ‘some internal injuries’ that were not ‘visible’ following the incident.
He said officers have ‘an idea’ of what happened, but wouldn’t go into detail on what that was.
Police do not believe there was any foul play involved in the woman’s death or the children’s injuries, which investigators are working to determine the cause of.
The 1-year-old was due to be airlifted to the Royal Hobart Hospital, but will now stay at the Launceston General Hospital as his condition has improved.
Blood tests have been performed on the woman and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
