Tasmania JackJumpers mainstay Will Magnay has locked in his future with the club, signing a two-year deal that will see him spend seven straight seasons with the club.
Magnay is the only rostered player who’s been with the JackJumpers since their inaugural season, making him a cornerstone of the franchise.
Magnay, his partner Cassandra Young-Tenthy and dog Burnie now call North Hobart home.
“It took no persuasion from the coach, Tassie is home and this team is where I want to be,” Magnay said.

“It’s such a special place to live, and there is so much love and excitement for the team, you can’t beat it.”
Coach Scott Roth said he was “extremely happy” to have Magnay part of the team.

“It’s not too often that you get to coach a player for this many years,” Roth said.
“He’s had so many ups and downs, and he’s grown from strength to strength from every one of those moments. Looking at where he is now is really something special to me.”
Roth said watching Magnay develop from a “young kid” to the player he is now has been a pleasure.
“He became a Boomer, made the Olympics, won a championship, became captain, and on the journey, he has really grown into a great player and leader,” he said.

“To have more time with him is just personally wonderful, and I know Tasmania will be really excited to have him back too.”
Magnay is a four-time club Defensive Player of the Year and holds the JackJumpers’ all-time records for rebounds at 532 and blocks at 150.
He’s also earned the respect of his teammates, winning the Players Player award at the club’s 2023-24 MVP Awards and being elected captain for the 2025-26 season.
Magnay said he’s keen to chase a second championship with the club.
“The squad we’re putting together on paper is looking strong,” he said.
“We have that growth mindset, to get better every day, and ultimately, we want that opportunity to win again.”
