Josh Magette, the star point guard for the Tasmania JackJumpers, is likely to miss the NBL playoffs due to a suspected broken cheekbone.
The injury was picked up during the third quarter of the team’s 87-63 win over Illawarra during the final regular season game on Saturday night.
Magette was hit while defending a fast-break and had to leave the game due to significant swelling.
The American guard was a key player for the JackJumpers, averaging 10 points, 4.4 assists and three rebounds per game this season.
Coach Scott Roth has expressed concern for Magette, saying that he is in serious pain and the outcome is likely to be not good.
Despite this setback, Roth is hopeful that the team can rally around Magette and support him during this difficult time.
