Katie Deeble has signed with the Tasmania Jewels ahead of the club’s inaugural WNBL season, adding three-point shooting and full-court defence to the expansion franchise.
The 22-year-old point guard has risen quickly through the ranks of Australian basketball and also spent time in the United States college system.
Jewels head coach Claudia Brassard said Deeble would add to the team’s attack.
“Adding Katie gives us another genuine outside threat and someone who can stretch the floor with her three-point shooting,” Brassard said.
“Just as importantly, she brings the type of full-court defensive pressure we want to be known for.”

“Katie has a reputation as a hard worker, a team-first player and someone who competes with real purpose, so she fits perfectly with the standards-led culture we’re building at the Jewels.”
Deeble has previously played for the Canberra Capitals in the WNBL and Wake Forest University in the ACC.
She is currently playing NBL1 for the North Gold Coast Seahawks.
Despite never having visited Tasmania, Deeble said she was eager to join the new franchise.
“To be part of building a team from scratch, it’s history in the making and I think that’s really cool,” Deeble said.

“We have a really stacked team, there is so much experience there, I’m focused on locking down and learning as much as I can.”
“I’m also so excited to get to Tasmania too, to be a part of the community and share the WNBL game day experience with everyone.”
Deeble joins pending league review and approval.
The Jewels were awarded the league’s ninth licence and will make their debut in the 2026/27 season.
Memberships go on sale on July 14 and the season starts in October.
