3 – 4 “brave men” are being hailed as heroes after saving a man from his burning 4WD in a serious crash on Algona Road in Kingston on Thursday afternoon.

Police say a Toyota Hilux driven by a 34 year old man heading south collided with a Toyota Prado driven by a 54 year old man travelling north around 3:30 PM. Both drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles.

Taking to social media on Thursday night, a friend of the 54-year-old Prado driver thanked the ‘anonymous heroes’ who pulled the driver from the vehicle.

“If you guys hadn’t done what you did, I have no doubts there would have been a fatality,” the friend said.

“Without caring or worrying about your own safety, you took it upon yourselves to pull this man from his burning vehicle”.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are continuing and anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to come forward.
