Two people have been charged and two others are believed to still be on the run following an alleged aggravated burglary incident in Launceston’s suburbs yesterday.
Police responded to a report of an unfolding burglary at a home on Joffre Street in Mowbray at around 5pm on Monday, involving a person who was reported to be possibly armed.
A significant number of police resources were deployed to the scene, where they found a white Holden Rodeo utility containing an imitation firearm in the form of a gel blaster, a quantity of firearms ammunition and cannabis.
Two individuals, a 41-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman, were found inside the vehicle and arrested at the scene.
Both have been charged with aggravated burglary, stealing and firearm offences as investigations into the incident continue.
The man is scheduled to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court today.
