Launceston man arrested after allegedly selling stolen gun, possessing homemade firearm

A Launceston man has been arrested after police allegedly found a homemade firearm and stolen property at his home.

The 27-year-old from South Launceston was taken into custody on Sunday following “ongoing investigations” in the area.

Detectives and uniform officers searched the man’s residence and reportedly found the stolen goods, homemade firearm and “related parts”.

He is also accused of stealing a firearm last week and then selling it.

The man has been charged with a series of offences including seven counts of stealing, six counts of burglary, one count of stealing a firearm and unlawful trafficking in firearms and other firearms offences.

He is scheduled to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on Monday afternoon.
