An 18-year-old has been charged with manslaughter over a motorcycle crash in the Launceston suburb of Norwood that killed a teenage pillion passenger last year.
The young Kings Meadows man was riding the motorcycle when it crashed at the roundabout where Boiton Hill Road, Norwood Avenue and Opossum Road meet in Norwood on September 13, 2025.
His 17-year-old passenger, Theo Huggins from Blackstone Heights, was treated at the Launceston General Hospital before being flown to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a critical condition.
Police confirmed three days later that he had died from his injuries.

Police arrested and charged the rider on Sunday after what they described as an “extensive investigation”.
He is due to appear in Launceston Magistrates Court on August 5.

Police said at the time that the crash happened around 8:45pm and involved a trail bike and a Subaru SUV.
The driver of the SUV was not physically injured.
Huggins was remembered by the North Launceston Football Club as “a boy full of character and zeal for life”.
