Firefighters in Tasmania’s South-West wilderness are confident that they have brought the bushfire at Lake Pedder under control.
The fire, which is believed to have been sparked by a lightning strike late last week, was reported on Friday and has been contained through the efforts of remote firefighting teams and water-bombing aircraft.
The Parks and Wildlife Services is continuing to monitor the situation, as temperatures in the area are expected to reach 30 degrees Celsius on Saturday.
