A New Norfolk man has been charged with the attempted arson after allegedly trying to burn down the local police station.
Detectives say the 36-year-old man started a fire at the station on Friday morning around 7am.
Police said no one was injured in the incident and only minor damage was caused to a front window.
The man has been charged with attempted arson and several other offences, including driving while disqualified, cultivating a controlled plant, possessing a controlled plant or its product and two counts of failing to appear.
He will appear in an out-of-hours sitting of the Hobart Magistrates Court today.
Detectives are also continuing to investigate a spate of recent fires in the areas of Blair Street and Kensington Street in New Norfolk.
