A 61-year-old man has been charged with burglary, stealing and firearms offences after police seized guns and allegedly stolen property, including two vehicles, in Tasmania’s north.
Officers searched a property at rural Tayene, about 45 kilometres east of Launceston, on Thursday as part of an investigation into a series of burglaries across the north of the state.
The man was found in nearby bushland and taken into custody.
Police allege the items seized included a pistol grip pump action shotgun, two handguns and a quantity of ammunition.

Two vehicles, two box trailers and a variety of number plates were also recovered from the property.
The search was led by Taskforce Raven, with help from the Northern Drugs and Firearms Unit, uniform officers and specialist resources.

Sergeant Ivan Radosavljevic said the arrest was the “culmination of solid investigative work over a considerable period”.
The man has been charged with two counts of burglary, six counts of stealing, six firearms offences, two counts of trespass and one count of motor vehicle stealing.
He also faces two counts of unlawful possession and two drug offences.
He has been remanded in custody.
Anyone with information about suspected criminal activity or unlawful firearms is asked to contact police.
