A 61-year-old man has been charged with multiple assaults and threatening behaviour allegedly targeting women in Hobart’s New Town area.
Tasmania Police arrested the man today following what they described as several recent incidents in the suburb.
He has been hit with two counts of assault and three counts of threatening words to provoke a breach of the peace in a public place.
Police allege the man carried out assaults and threatening behaviour towards women across the incidents.

He appeared in the Hobart Magistrates Court this afternoon and was remanded in custody until May 11.
Tasmania Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed or been affected by the man’s alleged behaviour to come forward.
