Man charged over Bridgewater knife attack that injured 27-year-old

A 22-year-old man has been charged with wounding after allegedly stabbing another man with a knife during a serious assault at Bridgewater.

Police arrested the Berriedale man on Saturday afternoon following investigations into the Friday night incident.

The victim, aged 27, suffered knife wounds to his head, back and hand during the altercation.

He remains in Royal Hobart Hospital in a stable condition with injuries that are not life-threatening.

Police say the two men knew each other before the alleged attack occurred.

Specialist police resources were deployed to assist with the arrest at a Berriedale residence on Saturday afternoon.

The accused has been charged with wounding and assault offences.

He was remanded in custody to appear before Hobart Magistrates Court today.
