A man will face court in Hobart today charged with the attempted murder of a Bridgewater man who was allegedly shot in the head and neck in Tasmania’s south last month.
The shooting happened on Taree Street in Chigwell on the night of April 5.
The 29-year-old victim was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital with serious injuries and is recovering.
Tasmania Police said the accused, a 33-year-old man from Chigwell, was arrested in Werribee, in Melbourne’s west, on Wednesday morning.
The arrest was made by Victoria Police’s Fugitive Squad and Special Operations Group at the request of Tasmania Police.
Detectives from the Glenorchy Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) extradited the man to Tasmania on Thursday evening.
He has been charged with attempted murder and is due to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court today.
Police issued a renewed appeal for information about the shooting in mid-April, asking anyone with CCTV or knowledge of the incident to come forward.
Tasmania Police said investigations were “ongoing”.
