A man will face court in Hobart tomorrow charged with murder after a fatal house fire in Glenorchy on Friday.
The 40-year-old from New Town has also been changed with arson, motor vehicle stealing and unlawfully setting fire to property.
Detective Acting Inspector Nick Bowden of Glenorchy CIB said police took the man into custody on Friday afternoon and formally charged him with murder late Sunday night.
He said investigators are still appealing for information or CCTV from anyone that may have seen any suspicious activity between Park Street in North Hobart and Risdon Road in New Town on Friday morning.
“We would like to thank those members of the public who have already come forward and responded to our appeal for assistance,” he said.
“Information and co-operation from the community is often invaluable in these types of complex investigations.”

Fatal Glenorchy blaze: Vehicle of interest identified in suspicious house fire
Police have released an image of a vehicle they suspect may have been involved in a fatal house fire in Glenorchy yesterday.
A body was discovered inside a room at the Sanders Street residence shortly before 7am on Friday, following reports from several 000 callers that the house was engulfed in flames.
The identity of the person who died has not yet been confirmed and Tasmania Police have indicated that this process could several days.
Authorities have labeled the fire “suspicious” and have declared the site a crime scene.
Detective Acting Inspector Nick Bowden said police were later alerted to a car fire in North Hobart, which is believed to be connected to the house fire.
“My information is that there is a link that’s been established between the vehicle that was located destroyed by fire in North Hobart and the address in Sanders Street,” Bowden said.
“We’d like to hear from anyone who might have observed a blue Mazda (registration L78BI) travelling between Glenorchy and North Hobart between the times of 6.45am [on Friday] and around about 7:10am.”
Inspector Bowden also urged anyone who might have seen a suspicious individual on foot in either the Glenorchy or New Town areas around 7am, or who has relevant footage, to contact the police or Crimestoppers anonymously.
A 40-year-old man, who was taken into custody on Friday afternoon, is currently assisting police with their investigation.
