Man electrocuted after truck with raised bucket touches overhead power lines

A man has been electrocuted after touching live power lines with a raised crane truck in Hobart’s Midway Point this afternoon.

The incident on Penna Road saw the bucket of the boom lift truck the 29-year-old was operating make contact with live lines around 2:30pm.

Police say he was found conscious when emergency services arrived and rushed to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a stable condition.

A 59-year-old man who was also in the bucket at the time received a minor electrical shock and was taken to hospital for observation.

It is understood the men were undertaking tree lopping for a private business.

Work Place Safety Inspectors are currently investigating the incident, while TasNetwork work to restore power to around 1,550 affected properties.
