A 30-year-old man has been extradited from Queensland to face major drug trafficking and stolen firearms charges in Tasmania.
The man arrived in the state today and is due to appear in the Supreme Court in Hobart tomorrow.
He was held in custody overnight ahead of the hearing.
Detectives from the Bridgewater Criminal Investigation Branch and the Southern Drugs and Firearms Unit travelled to Brisbane to bring him back, with help from Queensland Police.
He has been charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (major), unlawfully importing a controlled substance and possession of stolen firearms.

Detective Inspector Cameron Bessell said leaving the state did not mean escaping the consequences of alleged offending.
“Drug trafficking offences are serious matters that can have a significant impact on individuals, families and the wider community,” he said.
“Tasmania Police remains committed to investigating these offences and ensuring those accused are brought before the courts and held accountable.”
Anyone with information about drug crime is asked to contact police.
