Firearm and knife: Man flown to hospital after alleged home invasion near Burnie

Two men have been arrested following an aggravated armed robbery at a home near Burnie overnight.

Police and emergency services responded to a Cuprona address just before 10pm on Thursday after reports a person had been seriously injured.

The pair, a 21-year-old from Acton and a 23-year-old from Burnie, are accused of entering the home while armed with a gun and a knife.

A man inside the home sustained serious injuries to his leg and arm, police said.

He had to be airlifted to the Royal Hobart Hospital.

The two alleged offenders were taken into custody a short time later.

Both have been charged with multiple offences including aggravated armed robbery, wounding and causing grievous bodily harm.

They are also facing charges of destroy property, possessing a loaded firearm in a public place and other firearms-related offences.

The men are scheduled to appear in Burnie Magistrates Court on Saturday.
