Masked gunman remains at large after alleged Hobart shooting

A masked gunman remains at large after allegedly shooting a man in a Hobart suburb on Saturday afternoon.

The victim was allegedly shot in the arm at a residence on Tollard Drive in Rokeby around 3:40pm and was transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Tasmania Police have described the shooting as “targeted” and believe the alleged shooter and victim were known to each other.

“Investigations are continuing,” police said on Sunday, confirming the suspect had not yet been apprehended.

Witnesses reported seeing the alleged gunman flee the scene wearing a grey hoodie and black face mask, driving a black mid-2010s Mazda 3 sedan with interstate number plates.

Police immediately established a crime scene following the incident, cordoning off a section of Tollard Drive between Burtonia Street and Benboyd Circle while forensic teams examined the area.

“Police are calling for anyone with information, including relevant dash cam footage or CCTV in the area at the time of the incident,” a spokesperson said.
