Hobart mountain bikers caught red handed breaking the rules in Wellington Park have been slapped with ‘sizeable’ fines this week.
Several riders caught flouting do not enter signs and barriers on trails closed for maintenance have been fined by rangers, with the rulebreakers delaying the re-opening of the tracks ‘by at least a week’.
Bypassing a no access sign will land you with a $270.50 on the spot fine, while damaging or removing signs will cost you $362.
