Operations at Hobart Airport are being impacted as severe winds batter the city, with multiple inbound flights forced to divert to other destinations and departures delayed.
The disruptions began around 12pm on Monday, with Link Airways from Canberra and Virgin VA702 from Brisbane both unable to land.
The pilots opted instead to divert to Launceston and Melbourne respectively.
At 1:30pm, QF1925 from Brisbane was circling off the coast of Tasmania, becoming the sixth most tracked aircraft in the world on Flightradar24.
The airport recorded a gust of 96km/h at 12:30pm and a 65km/h gust at 1pm, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.
The wind diversions have caused delays for outbound passengers, with travellers advised to check with their airlines for the latest information.
