A new budget airline has ‘snubbed’ Tasmania and left our island state off their list of new destinations!
Low-cost carrier Bonza is set to launch in Australia with 17 destinations on their initial 27-strong route map – but not one of them is in Tasmania.
A Bonza spokesperson last year cited ‘high airport costs’ as the reason for their inability to offer cheap flights to Tassie and WA, but said Hobart and Perth will be their next “key domestic targets”.

“The single largest cost is airport costs. It is not the aircraft, it is not fuel, it is not pilots, it is not engineering.”
“There are airports out there that charge $30 just for you to walk through their building. That is very wrong.”
“Remember every trip involves two airports so it makes it very hard to have a $50 proposition if one airport is charging $20 or $30 and another airport is charging maybe $10 to $20.”
Tickets will soon be on sale for flights on their planes named Shazza, Bazza, and Sheila between Victoria, Queensland, and New South Wales.
