Tim Marks has been declared the winner of the latest Glenorchy City Council recount.

Marks will fill the seat left vacant by the late Councillor Jan Dunsby, who passed away in November after a battle with illness.

He managed to secure a majority ahead of runner-up Jenny Branch-Allen and other candidates Morris Malone, Mala Crew, Aris Grafanakis, Md Imadul Islam Rahat, Michael Hangan and Philip Fraser.

Marks will join the council alongside Mayor Sue Hickey, who congratulated him on his election.

“I welcome Mr Marks to Glenorchy City Council and look forward to working with him as he represents the ratepayers of Glenorchy,” she said.

Marks was officially sworn in by Acting Chief Executive Officer Emilio Reale at 4pm today ahead of the council’s Annual General Meeting.
