A new cafe combining specialty coffee with build-your-own grazing boards is opening in Lindisfarne on Wednesday.
Tisch Cafe will open its doors on Hobart’s eastern shore, offering something its owner says no other cafe in the area does.
Sophia Davis, who owns and runs the cafe, said customers can walk in and create their own grazing board or sandwich from a dedicated cheese fridge bar.
“Not everyone, for example, likes blue cheese, so if you can just put it together the way you like it, it’s nice,” she to Pulse.

Grazing boards come in three sizes with customers choosing their own proteins, cheeses, meats and accompaniments.
There is also a DIY sandwich station alongside a handful of signature options.

Davis has lived in Geilston Bay for nearly eight years and said she always felt the suburb was missing something.
“We were always saying, ‘oh, it’s kind of missing another, you know, cute little coffee shop where all ages are represented’,” she said.
“The oldies are welcome, the young moms and babies are welcome, the dog walkers and lovers can pop in.”
She started an event grazing business in 2020 after COVID restrictions cut off her barista work shortly after moving to Tasmania.

She then spent six years working at Staple Coffee in Hobart before deciding to branch out on her own.
“I was like, ‘oh, I wanna combine the coffee making with my platter making’,” she said.
The cafe will use Single O coffee from Sydney, which Davis said she chose because the roaster’s focus on sustainability aligned with her own values.
The name Tisch is the German word for table, a nod to Davis’s heritage after migrating to Australia 13 years ago.

A soft launch for family and friends over the weekend gave Davis a chance to iron out the kinks, with walk-in locals also stopping by for takeaway coffees.
Davis said she would continue her event catering business, rebranded as Tisch Event Grazing Tables, with online ordering for grazing boxes launching later this month.
Tisch is at Shop 8, 29 Lincoln Street in Lindisfarne.
