New Norfolk’s Honey Bee Festival is buzzing back for a third year, with organisers promising a bigger lineup of tastings, stallholders and family activities than ever before.
The festival will take over The Esplanade in New Norfolk today, running from 10am-2pm as part of the Tasmanian Autumn Festival.
Derwent Valley Beekeepers Association president Lori Lakos said the event celebrates bees, honey and pollinators while putting a spotlight on Tasmania’s beekeeping industry.
“It’s a celebration for all ages and this year’s festival promises an engaging and educational day out, offering honey tasting and the chance to vote for the best tasting honey produced by hobbyist beekeepers as well as commercial beekeepers,” Lakos said.

Visitors will be able to check out two observation hives, get advice from industry experts and browse educational displays aimed at both new and experienced beekeepers.
More than 40 stallholders will be on site, selling food, drinks, honey products, plants, garden essentials, bee-themed goods, arts, crafts and handmade items.

There’ll also be plenty of activities for kids, and other community groups will be involved.
“Whether you’re a seasoned beekeeper, hobbyist, food lover, gardener, or simply looking for a great day out, the Honey Bee Festival offers something for everyone,” Lakos said.
