Tasmanian trade and industrial supplier Nubco will donate 2% of purchases throughout October as it aims to raise $10,000 for SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY.
The fundraiser will support the Tasmanian mental health charity through Nubco’s Advantage Plus Loyalty Program, with the company launching the campaign in Devonport on Wednesday.
Nubco general manager Nick Daw said the business wanted to support the community through its October fundraising campaign.
“At Nubco, we’ve always believed that our job goes beyond supplying products, it’s about supporting the Tasmanian community that has supported us for over four decades,” Daw said.

“We are delighted to give back to the community through our Advantage Plus Loyalty Program by donating 2% of purchases throughout the month of October.
“SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY has such a great track record of increasing mental health awareness in the Tasmanian community and we want to bring that message to our partners and customers all over the state.”

SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY founder Mitch McPherson said campaigns that brought mental health awareness into trade and industrial communities were particularly meaningful.
“As someone who worked in the trade industry, I know the construction sector is built on resilience and hard work,” McPherson said.
“But sometimes, that culture can also make it harder for people to speak up when they’re struggling.”
McPherson said construction workers experienced suicide rates roughly twice those of other employed men, making conversations about mental health particularly important in the sector.

“We’re incredibly grateful that Nubco has chosen to raise awareness and funds for Stay ChatTY throughout October,” he said.
McPherson said funds raised would help Stay ChatTY continue taking mental health conversations into communities across Tasmania.
The fundraiser will run throughout October, with Nubco encouraging its customers and partners to support the campaign through their purchases.
