A north-west man in his 60s has died after a two-vehicle crash on the Bass Highway at Carrick this morning.
Emergency services were called to the highway near Heazlewoods Lane around 9:20am on Monday following a crash between a white Subaru and a black ute.
Both drivers were taken to hospital by ambulance.
The north-west man later died. The second driver was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The highway was closed in both directions for several hours, with traffic diverted via Oaks Road and Meander Valley Road before reopening.
Investigations are ongoing and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
Footage obtained by Pulse appears to show a white Subaru being driven erratically in the area shortly before the crash.
The car was captured undertaking vehicles and driving on the shoulder as it attempted to pass a truck on the inside.
Police are expected to provide further details on the incident later this afternoon.
