Police have seized two vehicles and caught seven drug-affected drivers during a week-long blitz on dangerous driving on Hobart’s eastern shore.

Operation Full Stop swept through Cambridge, Clarendon Vale, Rokeby, Risdon Vale and Geilston Bay, issuing 49 infringement notices as part of a crackdown on hooning and road safety.

Cambridge emerged as the trouble spot with 28 infringement notices, while Clarendon Vale and Rokeby recorded 14 between them.

Officers detected two drink drivers and slapped 14 defect notices on unsafe vehicles during the operation.

The two seized cars in Risdon Vale involved allegedly brazen offenders – one driver attempted to flee police while another was driving despite being disqualified.

“Hooning and driving defective vehicles is dangerous and puts not only the driver at risk, but also all other road users,” police said.

“Four hooning incidents were also reported by members of the public in the areas targeted by the operation.”

Police praised community members for speaking up about dangerous driving in their neighbourhoods.

“Together, we can make our streets safer for everyone,” they said.
