Two people have broken into the IGA supermarket at Wynyard in Tasmania’s north-west during an alleged overnight raid that also targeted a nearby Liquorland.

The break-ins happened around 3am on Monday.

The pair allegedly kicked in a window and made their way through the supermarket, targeting the cash registers and stealing confectionery, flavoured milk and meat before leaving.

The damage bill is expected to be about $2,000.

In a post on Facebook, the supermarket said the pair had damaged property and stolen “a number of items”, including cash.

The supermarket posted on Facebook appealing for help identifying the pair. Image / Supplied

“We know they were on foot and came up Inglis Street and left via Church Street towards the high school,” the store said.

It initially appealed for help from the community to identify the pair before later saying both had been identified.

The break-ins come after nine youths were charged late last month over a string of offences in the Wynyard area across a two-month period.
