A young man and a teenager who were found hiding in a bush after crashing an allegedly stolen car on a suburban Hobart street are now facing multiple charges.
The pair, a 29-year-old and a 17-year-old, collided with another vehicle on Kalang Avenue in Lenah Valley on January 17th before fleeing the scene.
Police later found both hiding in a nearby bush and have since laid charges against them for various offences, including burglary, motor vehicle theft, breach of bail, disqualified driving and firearms offences.
“As a result of the investigations, a large amount of stolen property was located and seized and police are calling for members of the public who may recognise the items to make contact,” a spokesperson said.
“The majority of the property is believed to have been stolen from the greater Hobart area, however some is suspected to have been stolen from the Orford and Triabunna areas.”
The allegedly stolen loot includes early-model iPhones, various tools, fishing lures, watches, sunglasses and shoes.
Anyone who recognises any of the property as having been stolen is asked to contact Hobart Police on 131 444 or Crimestoppers anonymously.
The man and youth were arrested following the incident and denied bail. They appeared in the Hobart Magistrates Court on January 18.
