Firefighters from Bagdad, Bridgewater and Brighton have rushed to Bagdad Primary School in Tasmania’s Midlands after a fire broke out earlier today.
The Tasmania Fire Service say they were alerted to the fire by occupants at around 12pm, who noticed ‘smoke and flames’ coming from a building.
The school has since urged parents to pick up their children from the school church immediately if they can, saying all students and staff were reportedly safe and gathered on the netball courts.
“We have had a small fire at school, which now has been contained,” the school said.
“We would like to ask those who are able to come and pick their children up from the school church immediately.”
Investigations into the cause of the fire are underway.
