A car parked across a walkway at Kingston’s new Spring Farm Village shopping centre has prompted more line markings after a photo of the parking job drew hundreds of reactions online.
The image went viral this week after it was posted to the Tasmania Parking Fails Facebook group on Saturday with the caption: “Straight up parked in a walkway.”
It shows a white sedan wedged between another car and a garden bed at the $60 million centre, which opened in May.
The post attracted a wave of comments, with many questioning the parking job and others joking that it was an impressive fit given the tight space.
Some defended the driver, arguing there were no line markings clearly showing the area was a pedestrian crossing.
Spring Farm Village has since extended the zebra crossing markings.
Posting online, the centre said the new white lines would “hopefully prevent more of these parking misadventures”.
Spring Farm Village is Kingston’s first new shopping centre in more than 15 years.
The Coles-anchored centre has 350 car parking spaces.
