The Parks and Wildlife Service is carrying out a fuel reduction burn at Murdunna in the Tasman area today, weather permitting.
The burn at the Yellow Bluff Creek Conservation Area covers around 105 hectares and is expected to take two to three days to complete.
It is part of the statewide Fuel Reduction Program, which aims to reduce bushfire risk and help protect lives and communities.
Smoke may linger for several days after the burn depending on wind conditions.
Public access to the area will be restricted during burning operations.
People are asked to stay well clear of the burn site while work is underway and in the days following, until safety checks along tracks and trails have been completed.
Anyone in the area should comply with directions from staff or any signs in place.
While the fire intensity will be low, it will generate flames, smoke and ash.
People with medical conditions are advised to have a personal plan for avoiding smoke from the burn.
