A physical altercation between two passengers disembarking a Jetstar flight at Hobart Airport last night reportedly resulted in one being ‘knocked unconscious’.
Police said ‘multiple calls’ were received from members of the public and airport staff about the disturbance, which is believed to have involved passengers not known to each other, around 10pm.
Witnesses onboard flight JQ713 from Melbourne told Pulse that, prior to the incident, one person was ‘consuming alcohol and behaving rowdily’ before the flight arrived in Hobart.
It is understood that during the alleged confrontation in the terminal, one person, who is believed to be the intoxicated passenger, attempted to punch another, who responded with a headbutt.

Following this, the intoxicated passenger allegedly landed another punch, causing the other person to collapse and lose consciousness.
A Jetstar spokesperson told Pulse they will “never tolerate disruptive or abusive behaviour whether it’s onboard our aircraft or within the terminal.”
“Our team members called security and police and supported other passengers who were in the process of disembarking,” the spokesperson said.
Police are currently investigating the incident.
UPDATE: A 42-year-old Herdsmans Cove man will be proceeded against by summons for assault, Police say.
He will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court at a later date.
