Renowned Australian singer Paul Kelly is set to headline a free concert at Hobart’s Hanging Garden tonight.
The event has been organised by the Yes23 referendum group as an initiative to “provide undecided voters with an opportunity to enjoy a tune and have their questions answered in a safe and open forum”.
Kelly will be joined by Yes23 Co-Chair and filmmaker Rachel Perkins for “an evening of songs, stories and discussion”.
The duo have a friendship stretching back nearly 25 years, and say the event is designed to replicate their times “spent around a campfire, talking and singing with friends”.

“There is much to talk about in the upcoming referendum and many questions to discuss, and I can’t think of a better way to do it, than with a song or two, and a glass of red in hand,” said Perkins.
The event kicks off from 5 PM in the Hanging Garden and will be supported by local singer-songwriter Madelena.
