The Bridgewater Bridge has been closed to all northbound traffic after a truck breakdown this evening.
Police say peak-hour traffic is currently being diverted up the Lyell Highway towards New Norfolk or back south onto the Bowen Bridge.

Traffic is currently backing up to Claremont as authorities work to clear the bridge.
Motorists are asked to seek an alternative route or to avoid the area.
UPDATE 5:30PM: The bridge has since reopened to all traffic.
