A person has died in a house fire in Tasmania’s north-west overnight.
The blaze broke out at the property on Hale Street in South Burnie around 1:30am on Monday.

Police said officers discovered the property alight while on a routine patrol in the area.
“Sadly, a person’s body was located inside. Investigations to identify the person are underway,” police said.
“Our thoughts and condolences are with all those affected by this incident.”
A scene watch was established overnight as a precautionary measure to ensure safety and preserve the site for investigation.
Fire investigators are currently on the scene to determine the cause of the fire, which caused extensive damage to the residence.
