A person is believed to have been seriously injured in a serious crash on the Arthur Highway near Copping this morning.
Police say the Highway is currently closed in both directions between Kellevie Road and Sugarloaf Road while crash investigators attend the scene.
Police are out in force across the state this Easter long weekend, ensuring the safety of drivers during the holidays.
Acting Assistant Commissioner Jason Elmer has emphasized that drivers should not ignore the annual safety message and should remain cautious on the roads.
“When you’re on the roads, slow down, pay attention, wear your seatbelt, stop and rest before you get tired and do not drive after drinking or taking drugs,” he said.
“As always, police will be targeting dangerous behaviours like speeding, mobile phone use, and driving under the influence.”
Police will be conducting random drug and alcohol testing and use speed detection devices in Tasmania.
Elmer has called on the community to report any unsafe driving incidents and obey the road rules to ensure road safety.
