A pet dog that was left ‘badly burned’ following a house fire in Kingston last week has returned home to her owners.

8-month-old Staffordshire Terrier Zelda was rescued from inside the burning house by the Tasmania Fire Service trapped, who managed to save her and another dog from the flames.

Zelda was taken to the Animal Emergency Service Vet in Derwent Park following the blaze, where she received 24-hour care medical attention for her injuries.

The clinic said she required “round-the-clock attention” due to her smoke inhalation and burns.

“Despite the severity of her injuries, Zelda is showing incredible resilience and determination on her road to recovery,” the clinic said.

“The lung injuries caused by smoke inhalation have posed significant challenges, but Zelda’s progress has been nothing short of remarkable and is out of the woods here.”

They say despite her skin injuries still needing to heal, she has remained in good spirits and “continues to wag her tail”.

As Zelda returns home, the community has rallied around her owners and raised over $3,300 to help with her treatment.
