A community on Hobart’s eastern shore has come together to mourn the tragic loss of two young girls who died as a result of a house fire over the weekend.

Hundreds gathered at the Rokeby Primary School oval this evening to pay tribute to one-year-old Harlyn and five-year-old Jordan.

Mourners released balloons and a dove into the sky as they shared fond memories of the girls and offered support to their family.

Fire investigators have confirmed that the fire began accidentally in the lounge room while the family was celebrating Jordan’s birthday.

A GoFundMe page set up to support the girls’ family has so far raised over $24,000.
