Armed robber accused of threatening Hobart bottle shop worker at gunpoint

A bottle shop worker has reportedly been held up at gunpoint in Hobart’s eastern suburbs, with police now searching for the armed offender.

The man entered the Bottle-O on Rokeby Road in Howrah about 8pm on Sunday, brandishing what appeared to be a firearm.

He allegedly demanded cash from the staff member before taking off on foot with money and other items.

Police said the worker was not physically injured during the robbery.

Officers have released a description of the suspect, hoping someone in the community might recognise him.

He’s described as white, about 167 centimetres tall and was wearing a hooded jumper under a black puffer jacket.

He was also wearing black cargo pants and white sneakers when he left the scene.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who was in the area around 8pm on Sunday to come forward.
